The similarities between my wife's name and my sister's name may make this blog difficult to follow. Just imagine how hard it is to keep the names straight while having a conversation with the two of them...while enjoying a beer.
Lauren and I had the wonderful luck of visiting Laura last Wednesday. Laura and her work colleagues were in Greensboro, NC for a national convention on childhood learning. Lauren took a day off from teaching. Wednesday is my day of leisure. Lauren and I left late in the morning to head up to Greensboro. We met Laura at the local mall, where she was finishing up with lunch, and headed to downtown Greensboro. While downtown we visited the library, got a cup of latte and lingered around the historical museum. The museum locked the doors at five o'clock so we didn't have a lot of time. I think we were the last to leave. Being later in the evening, there was little to do in the city, so we headed back to the hotel and convention center. The hotel that Laura was staying at had a free 'happy hour' for their guests. I guess you could call it lodging and liquor. After some laughing in the lounge and some lively conversation, Laura, Lauren and I headed out to dinner. Laura treated Lauren and I to dinner at Ruby Tuesday's. Lauren and I thought that was a lovely gesture from Laura and thank her again. Needless to say, no one ordered the lobster. Laura, Lauren and I all ate light as were had filled up on snacks from the 'happy hour.' apparently we never learned our lesson form our parents when they would lecture about "spoiling dinner with too many snacks." Laura, Lauren and I met up with Laura's colleagues after dinner and the six of us loitered in a restaurant at the convention center. I was getting lazy from my lager and it was getting late. Lauren and I had to leave. We dropped Laura off at the lobby of her living quarters and Lauren and I headed back to Fayetteville. It is always a treat to visit with loved ones. It was a unique opportunity that Lauren and I had to visit with Laura. It was great seeing you sis! Send the family our love.
